Thoughts For Today

Are our concerns focused on investing our time wisely by seeking God’s will for us?  “What is your life?  It is even a vapor that appears for a little time and then vanishes away.  Instead you ought to say, ‘If the Lord wills, we shall live and do this or that’” (James 4:14-15).  It is rare in day-to-day living that we stop to consider if we are investing in our eternity.  Knowing what God’s plan is, by seeking Him daily, puts us in the position to hear His voice, know His will and make the choice to obey His direction. By making your time with our Creator top priority, you are investing not only in your present, but also in your eternal future.  Take steps today to reorder your time, putting Him first.  The results will transform you.  On our way to answering the High Call of God, the Spirit will lead us into some intense times of pressure.  During this time of training, our spirit man becomes so strong inside of us that no matter how much pressure comes from the outside, we are able to resist the pressure and maintain our climb.  Just like the life-saving information given to us on a natural airplane flight, this spiritual training will equip us for the pressures of life.  There are training camps believers go through:
(1) Wilderness Training
(2) Warfare Training
(3) Endurance Training
It is important to comprehend that our training never really ends.  That understanding helps as we go from one level in our climb to the next.  With every new revelation of who God is in us, we must go through a similar process or preparation each time.  Paul explained this perfectly in his letter to the Romans: “And not only so, but we glory in tribulations also; knowing that tribulation works patience; and patience, experience; and experience, hope.”  How quickly we go through the training depends upon how quickly we recover when the crosswinds of life try to blow us off of the mountain.  The Bible states, “They [the Israelites] were overthrown in the wilderness” (1 Corinthians 10:5). Our first training camp is Camp Wilderness.  Be well advised not to pitch your tents here. Keep moving forward.  Our stay in Camp Wilderness is meant to be temporary.  The Israelites are a very good example of what not to do in the wilderness.  Exodus 12 gives a detailed record of the Passover and of their incredible deliverance from four hundred years of slavery.  In one night, the entire nation was freed.  They had prayed and believed for this day for many generations.  From the time this generation had been small children, they had been taught of the covenant God had made with Father Abraham to make them a great and mighty nation.  When Moses, their deliverer, finally came, he had already spent forty years in the wilderness himself.  Moses knew he had a destiny, but in his limited understanding he believed that by rescuing one Israelite he could fulfill the call on his life, and that his ministry would then “take off” (Exodus 2:11-12).  After trying to fulfill his destiny in his own way he was immediately taken into the desert, where God enlarged his capacity to understand what his true purpose was and the fact that it did not depend on his own strength, but on God alone.  If you are in the middle of wilderness training, remember that God took you in so He can take you out.

Thoughts For Today

“Bodily exercise profits little; but godliness is profitable unto all things, having promise of the life that now is, and of that which is to come” (1Timothy 4:8).   With every New Year there are always resolutions that we make to ourselves, promising that we will improve our health, get rid of bad habits, exercise more and eat less.  The list goes on and on.  The above verse tells us that bodily exercise profits little, but godliness is profitable to all things.  However, godliness in itself takes much work and if you will, exercises. How does God exercise us?  Ecclesiastes 3:10 shows us that God does indeed work us out: “I have seen the travail, which God hath given to the sons of men to be exercised in it.”  Tough times work us out, but it is through the trials and testing that we have the opportunity to really grow in godliness.  It is during these times that we are challenged to grow spiritually like never before.  Acts 24:16 expounds upon this matter: “And herein do I exercise myself, to have always a conscience void of offence toward God and men.” Offenses will come, but if you are in position to stretch spiritually, you can exercise yourself unto godliness and not get caught up in being offended or any other test you may be in.  Hebrews 12:11 sums it up perfectly, “Now no chastening for the present seems to be joyous, but grievous: nevertheless, afterward it yields the peaceable fruit of righteousness unto them which are exercised thereby.”  Like physical strengthening, you may experience pain while exercising yourself unto godliness, but your reward will be great in this life and that which is to come.  The peaceable fruit of righteousness is yours. Let God be your personal trainer and exercise yourself unto godliness.

Thoughts For Today

“Pray for the peace of Jerusalem: May they prosper who love you.  Peace be within your walls, prosperity within your palaces.  I will now say, Peace be within you.  Because of the house of the Lord our God I will seek your good” (Psalm 122:6-9).  There is much excitement about the natural city of Jerusalem.  The word Jerusalem means City of Peace. God’s plan has always been for Jerusalem to be free of strife and blessed by peace, happiness, prosperity and health.  Psalm 122:6 is a prayer that all those who pray for this Holy City will experience God’s blessings in their lives.  As Christian believers, we know that there will one day be a New Jerusalem, known as Zion, God’s Holy Mountain.  This is where Jesus will establish His government when He returns to rule and reign for one thousand years.  Psalm 102:13 tells us, You will arise and have mercy on Zion; For the time to favor her, yes, the set time, has come.  Now is the time to pray for Jerusalem and see the manifest blessings of God: peace, happiness, prosperity and health become reality in your life.

Thoughts For Today

“‘Behold, the days are coming,’ says the Lord, ‘When the plowman shall overtake the reaper, and the treader of the grapes him who sows seed; the mountains shall drip with sweet wine and all the hills shall flow with it.  I will bring back the captives of my people Israel; they shall build the waste cities and inhabit them; they shall plant vineyards and drink wine from them; they shall also make gardens and eat fruit from them.  I will plant them in their land and no longer shall they be pulled up from the land I have given them, says the Lord your God’” (Amos 9:13-15).  The fulfillment of this promise is based on the unconditional mercy and grace of God’s blessing.  Security and stability for the heirs of our heavenly Father are not only for His future Kingdom but also for those serving Him in obedience right now.  God is planting His people.  The harvest we have been sowing for will be so great and come so quickly that we will enter into another season of reaping before the first is completed.  We are supposed to enjoy the fruit of our labor.  The Word of God confirms it again in Proverbs 14:23, “In all labor there is profit…”  Financial provision is only one aspect of the blessings of God.  Our harvest will come as we see sons and daughters saved for the glory of God.  We will reap blessings in our physical bodies as we are healed and made whole.  As captives are set free from years of emotional bondage, deliverance will become their portion and season of reaping.  “Those who sow in tears shall reap in joy.  He, who continually goes forth weeping, bearing seed for sowing, shall doubtless come again with rejoicing, bringing His sheaves (His harvest) with Him…weeping may endure for a night, but joy comes in the morning” (Psalm 126:5-6, Psalm 30:5).

Thoughts For Today

There are times in each of our lives, as believers, when it is only by faith in Christ Jesus that we are able to continue on.  It is during these times that our gifts of joy, peace and hope must be stirred.  Why?  “The joy of the Lord is your strength” (Nehemiah 8:10).  The gift of peace is ours because, “He Himself is our peace, and therefore, you are no longer strangers and foreigners, but fellow citizens with the saints and members of the household of God” (Ephesians 2:14, 19).  Our hope is made real by the promise of Colossians 1:23 & 27, “If indeed, you continue in the faith, grounded and steadfast, and are not moved away from the hope of the Gospel which you heard, which is Christ in you, the hope of glory.”  Do not lose the joy of believing.  Psalm 27:13-14 declares, “I would have lost heart, unless I had believed that I would see the goodness of the Lord in the land of the living.  Wait on the Lord; be of good courage, and He shall strengthen your heart; wait, I say, on the Lord.”  Keep your joy, wait on the Lord and your faith will be rewarded.

Thoughts For Today

“Come and see the works of God; He is awesome in His doing toward the sons of men” (Psalm 66:5).  God’s sons and daughters are emptying themselves out before Him, crying to Him that it is His Spirit for which they hunger.  As you seek His Presence, He is ministering mightily by pouring Himself out, answering prayers, bestowing mercy and grace upon all those who call out His Name.  It is truly awesome to behold.  As you seek Him, diligently pressing into His Presence, seek Him for who He is.  Expect Him to answer by renewing your strength, refreshing you, and revealing Himself to you through answered prayer.  Psalm 66:19-20 says, “But certainly God has heard me; He has attended to the voice of my prayer.  Blessed by God, Who has not turned away my prayer, nor His mercy from me.”  Choose to trust in Him to answer your petition as an act of faith, not an emotion, and be determined in your expectations of a response.  He will give you clarity in every area of your life, and rest assured that victory is yours.  “Now may the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace in believing that you may abound in hope by the power of the Holy Spirit” (Romans 15:13).  As believers, we have been given spiritual gifts by the indwelling of the Holy Spirit, but we have also been given joy, peace and hope.  Verse 17, of Romans, chapter 15 states why.  “Therefore I have reason to glory in Christ Jesus in the things which pertain to God.”  Our joy, peace and hope all come from one source.  It is our belief in Christ Jesus that, by faith, we have reason to glory.  Hebrews 11:1 & 3 declares, “Now faith is the substance of things hope for, the evidence of things not seen.  By faith we understand that the worlds were framed by the Word of God, so the things, which are seen, were not made of things that are visible.”  Joy, peace and hope are also things that are not seen, neither are they emotions.  Rather, these gifts are choices that we make, as we trust, by believing, that they are truly ours through our hope in the Holy Spirit.

Thoughts For Today

Some storms you will be able to walk on, others you will be able to rebuke, but some you will just have to grab the wood, hang on and ride the storm out.  During trials, results from bad choices, storms, or whatever you may be dealing with, hang on.  Deal with the heart issues anger; bitterness, resentment, judgment, rejection, unforgiveness or whatever is holding you.  Facing yourself is sometimes painful.  However, it is also crucial for you to acknowledge issues, accept correction and advance to the next level.  Be open to God revealing YOU, TO YOU and expect to experience true revelation in your life.  The Word tells us in John 15:16, “You have not chosen Me, but I have chosen you, and ordained you, that ye should go and bring forth fruit, and that your fruit should remain” John 15:2-5 tells us, “Every branch in Me that bears not fruit He takes away: and every branch that bears fruit, He purges it, that it may bring forth more fruit.  Now you are clean through the Word, which I have spoken unto you.  Abide in Me, and I in you.  As the branch cannot bear fruit of itself, except it abide in the vine; no more can you, except ye abide in Me.  I am the vine, you are the branches: He that abides in Me, and I in him, the same brings forth much fruit: for without Me ye can do nothing.”  We know that outside of Him, nothing could be accomplished, but through Him, all things are possible (Luke 1:37).  Even as God is purging us and revealing the things that need to be cut away, He is still encouraging us to understand that not only will we see fruit, but that it will be fruit that remains.  Ecclesiastes 3:14 tells us, “I know that, whatsoever God does, it shall be for ever: nothing can be put to it, nor anything taken from it: and God does it, that men should fear before Him.”  It will be added to your account and shall remain eternally.

Thoughts For Today

In the days we are living in, there is always opportunity for spiritual and emotional growth.  There are many changes taking place throughout the Body of Christ as believers are coming face to face with themselves.  As we mature in our walk with Christ, we come to the understanding that not everything that goes wrong is an attack from the devil.  As spiritual growth occurs and more of Christ’s character manifests in our lives, we have to face the fact that there may be choices we have made that are hindering our walk with Jesus.  There are as many varied situations and issues as there are believers.  One key is realizing that we all have issues.  Most often the people around us know it long before we do.  As opportunities for growth arise, either as a direct result of wrong decisions or trials or storms, our response is what determines whether we go on with God or stay stuck in our circumstances.  Remember, we are responsible not only for our actions but also for our reactions.  Our best course of action is to:

1. Recognize a bad choice and repent (2 Samuel 11 & 12).
2. Encourage yourself in the Lord, just as David did
(1 Samuel 30:6, Psalm 42:5).
3. Rehearse all the good God has done for you.  Do not dwell on circumstances and injustices (Psalm 103:1-2).

The Word speaks of many types of storms:
 1. Peter walked on top of a storm (Matthew 14:22-29).
 2. Jesus spoke to a storm and it ceased (Mark 4:35-39).
3. Paul was in a storm and had to grab a piece of wood and hang on  (Acts 27:13-44).

Thoughts For Today

Many are pressing into the Word of God like never before.  People are hungry to hear the voice of God for themselves.  They are desperate for answers and direction.  Jesus is looking for people who will surrender their lives to Him, for the purpose of getting the Gospel to a lost and dying world.  In this portion of scripture, Luke 5, Peter allows Jesus to use his fishing boat and as he lets down his nets (the work of his hands) the blessings of God overflowed from his life to others fishing around him.  When we surrender our boat (life) to Jesus, He will bless the work of our hands and use us to bless others.  Peter went from giving up (washing his nets) to overflowing with bounty once Jesus came into his boat.  When Jesus came on board, everything changed.  Amazingly, Jesus did not ask Peter to go a long way at first.  In verse 3, Jesus asks him to row out a little way.  After Peter released his boat (life) to Jesus and obeyed him, Jesus responds to his obedience in verse 4, “Since you obeyed me in going a little way, I am going to go with you, all the way.  Launch out into the deep.”  When we are faithful in obeying God to share the good news of the Gospel He will go all the way with us, even into the deep waters, to see His plans, provisions, and promises fulfilled in our lives.  After obeying Jesus’ command, the blessings of God so filled Peter’s boat that he had to call for help to pull in the catch. Luke 6:38 declares, “Give and it shall be given unto you, good measure, pressed down; shaken together and running over men will give unto your bosom.”  God will give us such abundance that not only will our lives be blessed, but He will also make us a blessing to someone else’s life.  Be a blessing to someone.  As you grow in faithfulness allow Jesus to use your boat so your life will overflow with all He has for you.

Thoughts For Today

Isaiah 9:6-7 prophesies the reign of heavenly and earthly Kingdoms through the birth of the promised Messiah: “For unto us a Child is born, unto us a Son is given; and the government will be upon His shoulder, and His name will be called Wonderful, Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, and Prince of Peace.  Of the increase of His government and peace there will be no end, upon the throne of David and over His Kingdom, to order it and establish it with judgment and justice from that time forward, even forever.  The zeal of the Lord of hosts will perform this.”  Our confidence in Jesus can be sure that there will be only increase of His government and peace.  Haggai 2:4-7 states, “Yet now be strong…be strong…be strong, all you people of the land, says the Lord, and work; for I am with you, says the Lord of Hosts.  According to the word that I covenanted with you when you came out of Egypt, so My Spirit remains among you; do not fear.  For thus says the Lord of hosts: Once more (it is a little while) I will shake heaven and earth, the sea and dry land; and I will shake all nations, and they shall come to the Desire of All Nations, and I will fill this temple with glory, says the Lord of hosts.” Haggai prophesies that we will be filled with the Spirit of God to keep us strong.   Paul then confirms this word in Hebrews 12:26-29.  “…Now He has promised, saying, Yet once more I shake not only the earth, but also heaven.”  Now this, yet once more, indicates the removal of those things that are being shaken, as of things that are made, that the things which cannot be shaken may remain.  Therefore, since we are receiving a Kingdom that cannot be shaken, let us have grace, by which we may serve God acceptably with reverence and godly fear.  For our God is a consuming fire.

Thoughts For Today

In every promise from God the harvest is greater, grander and larger than we can even comprehend.  To apprehend the promises of God, He has to enlarge our capacity to handle the harvest through patience.  God works patience in us just as He did in Moses.  He knew that he was called to deliver Israel, but his mentality was to slay one Egyptian in hopes of delivering one Israelite.  God sent Him to the desert to wait for 40 years so his capacity to embrace his true calling could be increased.  God’s plan was not to deliver one or even two, but to deliver the entire nation in one night.  God will increase our ability to receive His promise and enlarge our capacity to carry the harvest as we wait patiently for Him.  “For you had compassion on me in my chains, and joyfully accepted the plundering of your goods, knowing that you have a better and an enduring possession for yourselves in heaven.  Therefore, do not cast away your confidence, which has great reward.  For you have need of endurance, so that after you have done the will of God, you may receive the promise” (Hebrews 10:34-36).  Do not give up; your harvest is on the way.  Be encouraged just as Jesus’ disciples were.  As you have obeyed God by sowing into God’s Kingdom, let patience work in you that you may receive a 100-fold return in Jesus name. “Do not be deceived, God is not mocked; for whatever a man sows, that he will also reap. And let us not grow weary while doing good for in due season we shall reap if we do not lose heart” (Galatians 6:7, 9).

Thoughts For Today

“…Be strong in the Lord and in the power of His might.  Put on the whole armor of God,  that you may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil; for we do not wrestle against flesh and blood but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this age, against spiritual hosts of wickedness in the heavenly places” (Ephesians 6:10-12).   Paul clearly outlines the enemy’s strategy for battles, rulers, powers, world forces of darkness, and spiritual forces of wickedness in heavenly places.  Even though it often seems as though these strategies are prevailing, God has given believers powerful weapons to counter the attacks of the enemy.  “Therefore take up the whole armor of God that you may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand.  Stand therefore, having girded your waist with truth, having put on the breastplate of righteousness, and having shod your feet with the preparation of the Gospel of peace; above all, taking the shield of faith with which you will be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked one.  And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the Word of God; praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit, being watchful to this end with all perseverance and supplication for all the saints”  (Ephesians 6:13-18).  It is no mistake that our spiritual weapons are described as battle dress.  We are in an ongoing battle standing against and engaging in one-on-one contact with a very real enemy.  Paul states emphatically that we are to put on the full armor of God and stand.  “To stand” means to remain standing after engaging in warfare and “stand” means to prepare and take your stand for the next battle.  These weapons are for aggressive resistance to satanic forces.  Paul’s final instruction focuses on prayer.  Putting on the armor of God is preparation for the battle.  Prayer is the battle.  God’s Word is the most powerful weapon we have to defeat the attacks of the enemy. If you are in the heat of a personal battle, be encouraged.  God’s Word is stronger than any weapon in Satan’s arsenal and will ultimately destroy every tactic he has launched at you.  The rulers of darkness of this age that are manifesting all around us, can - and will - be defeated by aggressive prayer and believers being prepared to withstand (vigorously oppose) and having done all, to stand (prepare for the next battle).  When your faith is in Jesus, you know the victory is yours.

Thoughts For Today

“Unless the Lord builds the house, they labor in vain who build it” (Psalm 127:1).  It is indeed an exciting time to be serving the King of Kings.  The harvest is ripe and He is putting His house in order.  In 2 Chronicles 24:13 the workmen labored and the work was completed by them; they restored the house of God to its original condition and reinforced the wall.  This entire passage of scripture deals with restoring the house of the Lord.  Nehemiah 2:20 says, “The God of heaven Himself will prosper us; therefore we His servants will arise and build.”  In Luke 8:3-4 we see Jesus speaking a parable to those who ministered side by side with Him.  Interestingly, the parable He decided to share was that of seed sowing.  “But the ones that fell on the good ground are those who, having heard the Word with a noble and good heart, keep it and bear fruit with patience.”  Genesis 8:22 tells us there will be seedtime and harvest.  The time or patience part of that scripture is what we often miss.  The key word to harvest and fruit bearing is patience.  We must purpose in our heart that after our seed is sown, we will wait patiently for the harvest.  In Hebrews 6:12, the Word of God declares that through faith and patience we receive the promise.  Faith brings the promise or harvest, and patience prepares us to receive it.  The patience (time) part is what seems to be the most difficult aspect of sowing.  In whatever way that God is working in our lives, patience has a job to accomplish.  James 1:4 says, “Let patience have its perfect work, that you may be perfect and complete, lacking nothing.”

Thoughts For Today

“I have chosen the way of truth; Your judgments I have laid before me.  I cling to Your testimonies; O, Lord, do not put me to shame.  I will run the course of Your commandments, for You shall enlarge my heart.  Teach me, O Lord, the way of Your statutes, and I shall keep it to the end.  Give me understanding that I shall keep Your law; indeed I shall observe it with my whole heart.  Make me walk in the path of Your commandments, for I delight in it.  Incline my heart to Your testimonies, and not to covetousness.  Turn my eyes away from looking at worthless things.  And revive me in Your way.  Establish Your Word to Your servant, who is devoted to fearing You.  Turn away my reproach, which I dread, for your judgments are good.  Behold, I long for Your precepts; revive me in Your righteousness”
(Psalm 119:30-40).

Thoughts For Today

“They have also healed the hurt of my people slightly, saying, ‘Peace, Peace!’ when there is no peace” (Jeremiah 6:14).  In this passage of scripture the prophet Jeremiah is warning God’s people to open themselves up to the sovereignty of His leadership.  Their hearts had been turned from the Word of God, which once pierced their hearts and brought them to repentance.  Instead, they began to listen to men who promised no evil would come upon them even if they turned from God’s commandments.  Human nature was just as prone to follow carnality then as it is now.  True peace and prosperity come from an intimate relationship with our Creator and a right relationship with others.  Forfeiting that peace by worrying anxiously about the future will bring only confusion and fear.  Worry is making a down payment on something you will never own.   However, staying in close communion with Jesus, walking in character, integrity and trusting Him to fulfill the promises He has already placed within you, will prepare you for whatever circumstances may arise.  The peace we have in Jesus has more to do internally, with our hearts, than it does with situations and circumstances that are external.  There may be hard times ahead for the world, but we are in the world, not of it (John 17:12, 14).  As long as we are drawing nigh to God, He will draw nigh unto us (James 4:8).  “Love has been perfected among us in this: that we may have boldness in the Day of Judgment; because as He is, so are we in this world.  There is no fear in love; but perfect love casts out fear, because fear involves torment, but he who fears has not been made perfect in love” (1John 4:17-18).  Who is he that overcomes the world?  It is he who has faith in God. It is our faith that brings victory to overcome the world.  Faith, love and obedience are our spiritual weapons that prepare us for times of battle and times of war.  “For whatever is born of God overcomes the world.  And this is the victory that has overcome the world, our faith” (1 John 5:4).  Stay in the Word of God, stay faithful, and seek His face diligently.  “Without faith it is impossible to please Him, for he who comes to God must believe that He is a rewarder of those who diligently seek Him” (Hebrews 11:6).  That is our Victory.

Thoughts For Today

“The entrance of Your Word gives light; it gives understanding to the simple.  I opened my mouth and panted, for I longed for Your commandments.  Look upon me and be merciful to me.  As Your custom is toward those who love Your name.  Direct my steps by Your Word, and let no iniquity have dominion over me.  Redeem me from the oppression of man, that I may keep Your precepts.  Make Your face shine upon Your servant, and teach me Your statutes, rivers of water run down my eyes, because men do not keep Your law Righteous are You, O Lord and upright are Your judgments.  Your testimonies, which You have commanded, are righteous and very faithful.  My zeal has consumed me, because my enemies have forgotten Your Words.  Your Word is very pure; therefore your servant loves it.  I am small and despised, yet I do not forget Your precepts.  Your righteousness is an everlasting righteousness, and Your law is truth.  Trouble and anguish have overtaken me, yet Your commandments are my delights.  The righteousness of Your testimonies is everlasting; give me understanding, and I shall live” (Psalm 119:130-144).

Thoughts For Today

Psalms 127:2 states, “It is vain for you to rise up early, to sit up late, and to eat the bread of sorrows; for so He gives His beloved sleep.”  God does not want us to loose sleep worrying about provision.  The bread of sorrows speaks of when God told Adam he would live under a curse, tilling the ground with sweat and in sorrow, eating the fruit thereof.  We have been redeemed from this curse through Christ Jesus (Galatians 3:13). Proverbs 10:22 declares, “The blessing of the Lord makes rich and adds no sorrow with it.”  We no longer have to eat the bread of sorrows, depending upon our own abilities and power.  We now have the blessing of the Holy Spirit, which empowers us to get wealth (Deuteronomy 8:18), not according to our own ability, but by His power, which is working in us.  The New Covenant has enabled us to give more than enough than will ever be needed for His Kingdom.  If Israel had more than enough under the Old Covenant, we are to have even more under the New Covenant.  Simply open the door by being willing to give beyond your own power and see God’s supernatural power provide.  “If you are willing and obedient, you shall eat the good of the land” (Isaiah 1:19).

Thoughts For Today

Do you remember your first love?  In the natural, you experienced a rush that came just from knowing the recipient of your affection was near and that soon you would spend time together.  Do you still experience that same exhilaration when you think of time alone with Jesus?  Is He still your first love?  Is He still the source of your strength that you draw from in the good times and the bad?  In Revelations 2:4, God admonishes the church at Ephesus for getting away from its first love as they had apparently lost their zeal for being Disciples of Christ.  “Nevertheless I have this against you, that you have left your first love.”  If that describes where you are, give your love for Jesus the place it deserves.  Come back to your first love wholeheartedly and commit yourself to being a devoted Disciple of Christ.  Put Jesus first in every area of your life and let the love of God be shed abroad in your heart (Romans 5:5).

Thoughts For Today

God is El Shaddai and He is more than enough.  Moses’ experience with the Israelites generous giving is a perfect example of the abundance God wants us to walk in.  “…They spoke to Moses, saying, the people bring much more than enough for the service of the work which the Lord commanded us to do.  So Moses gave a commandment, and they caused it to be proclaimed throughout the camp, saying, ‘Let neither man nor woman do any more work for the offering of the sanctuary.’  And the people were restrained from bringing, for the material they had was sufficient for all the work to be done - indeed too much” (Exodus 36:5-7 NKJV).  The Word of God declares that the people had more than enough for the building of God’s tabernacle.  So much that Moses had to advertise for no more giving at that time.  God’s desire is for us to have more than enough to give to His work and take care of our needs as well.  Second Corinthians 8:2-3 declares, “That in a great trial of affliction the abundance of their joy and their deep poverty abounded in the riches of their liberality.  For I bear witness that according to their ability, they were freely willing.”  Not only with their own ability, but verse 3 states, beyond their power or ability they were willing of themselves.  In order for God to bless us in the manner Moses and the children of Israel were blessed, we need to be willing to give beyond our power or ability.  Israel was not giving to God what they had provided for themselves, but what God had provided for them, the wealth of the Egyptians.  This is giving according to God’s ability to provide, not our own.  Many times we give according to our income or the reserves we have, but God wants us to give beyond our abilities and trust solely in Him for blessings that will spill from us to one another.

Thoughts For Today

Matthew 16:18 declares, “I will build my church and the gates of hell will not prevail against it.”  The Lord is doing something fresh and new in fulfilling the prophetic words of Matthew 16:18.  The church that God is building is exactly the opposite of what man has built.   As honorable as man’s efforts have been in trying to establish the Kingdom of God, they have been in vain.  The Word clearly states in Psalm 127:1, “Unless the Lord builds the house, they labor in vain who build it.”  The church that God is building is a spiritual church.  First Peter 2:5 states, “We as living stones are being built up into a spiritual house…”  As living stones, we experience many pressures of life.  There are sorrows, pains and tribulations, but through them all, we are continuously being shaped into stones that can be fit and joined with others in the spiritual house that God is building.  In Acts 2:42-47, we have an example from the early church as they were becoming living stones and developing into a covenant community.
•Verse 42:  They continued in fellowship (Koinonia).
•Koinonia means sharing, unity, close association, partnership, participation, a society, a communion, a fellowship, contributory help, and the brotherhood, a unity brought about by the Holy Spirit.  Literally, each person becomes a stone, set
in proper position and held in place by this Koinonia (Holy Ghost cement).
•Verse 43:  There was a fear (respect) for God.
•Verse 44:  They had all things in common.  There was no competition, only the desire for completion of the Gospel being presented.
•Verse 45:  There was a spirit of generosity.
•Verse 46:  There was a simple joy of life that God had given them through Christ. Verse 47:  They had great favor with God and the church multiplied.  We can count on God to accomplish His promise that He will build His church.  As we continue to be shaped into His spiritual house, becoming living stones as a covenant community, we will see the Kingdom established and the gates of hell will not prevail against it.

Thoughts For Today

Today, it is time to start feeding your faith and starving your doubts to death.  Fight the good fight of faith and lay hold of what God has for you.  Just like God said in Joshua 1:2, “Arise and go over this Jordan.”  The same God that brought you out will take you in.  Circumstances will come and go, your mind will tell you different things, but while the devil is launching his arrows at you, you can depend on God’s unfailing promises found in His Word.  When Israel left Egypt (Exodus 13:17-18), God did not lead them by the way of the Philistines.  If He had and they had to fight at that point, they may have turned back in fear of defeat.  Instead, He led them through the wilderness.  When it came time to possess their inheritance, they could no longer be wanderers, they had to become warriors.  The wilderness test is to temper the steel sword of your mind, body and spirit, preparing you for warfare in the spirit and to take territory for His Kingdom.  He brought us out so that He could take us in.  “You take care of the earth and water it, making it rich and fertile.  The rivers of God will not run dry; they provide a bountiful harvest of grain, for you have ordered it so. You drench the plowed ground with rain, melting the clods and leveling the ridges.  You soften the earth with showers and bless its abundant crops. You crown the year with a bountiful harvest; even the hard pathways overflow with abundance.  The wilderness becomes a lush pasture, and the hillsides blossom with joy. The meadows are clothed with flocks of sheep, and the valleys are carpeted with grain. They all shout for joy” (Psalm 65:9-13 TLV).

Thoughts For Today

“…Except the Lord build the house, they labor in vain that build it…” (Psalms 127:1).  In Isaiah 56, God makes mighty promises to Sabbath-keepers.  Verse 4 and 5 tells us that the eunuch who loves and keeps the Sabbath is promised a place in His house and a name better than that of sons and daughters.  Eunuchs do not have the natural ability to reproduce or pro-create, so these verses speak of supernatural blessings.  In other words, what the eunuch can’t do for himself, God will do for him.  The same chapter gives a great promise to the foreigner (or Gentile) that chooses to identify with the God of Israel.   As he keeps the Sabbath, God will bring him to the holy mountain, make him joyful in the house of prayer, accept his offerings, and make the house a house of prayer for all nations (Isaiah 56:6-8).   Isaiah 56 continues in verse 8 by saying, “The Lord, God Who gathers the outcasts of Israel, says, ‘Yet I will gather to him others besides those who are gathered to him.’”   It’s all about pointing men to Jesus.  As He is lifted up, all men will be gathered to Him.  We believe that is exactly what will happen for us, as a body, as we embark upon a rediscovery of the Sabbath.  Ask the Lord to reveal a new and dynamic way for you and your family to embrace the Sabbath.  We believe God’s Word that the benefits will be great.

Thoughts For Today

Philippians 1:3-6 declares, “I thank my God upon every remembrance of you, always in every prayer of mine for you all, making request  for you all with joy, for your fellowship (partnership) in the Gospel from the first day until now, being confident of this very thing, He Who has begun a good work in you will perform it (finish it) until the day of Jesus Christ.”  The Word of God declares in 1Timothy 6:12, “Fight the good fight of faith, lay hold of eternal life.”  In our Christian walk, we will come to the time when we stop asking God for His promises and instead, grab hold of them.  Luke 16:16 states, “The Kingdom of God has been preached and everyone is pressing into it.”  God told Moses at the Red Sea to stop praying, get up and stretch forth his rod.  It is time to take territory.  When Israel first left Egypt, God did not send them straight into war.  The reason for this is because He did not want them to turn back.  However, once it came time to possess their inheritance, the battle was on.  Many in the body of Christ have survived their wilderness test and now is the time to possess the land, to lay hold of our inheritance.  The good news is, the battle is not ours, but the Lord’s.  We do not have to fight the devil; we only have to fight the good fight of faith.  The devil has been defeated by the work of the Cross.  Our war is to fight the good fight of faith, being fully persuaded that, what He has promised, He is able to perform (Romans 4:21).

Thoughts For Today

“And let us consider one another to provoke unto love and good works” (Hebrews 10:2).  Recently, the word “provoke” was revealed through God’s Word as an incentive to rouse His people to good works.  We are to “provoke” others to seek God’s Presence and plans to fulfill His purpose for their destinies.  The scripture clarifies what we as believers are to provoke others to, that being love and good works.  All too often, provocation has a totally different connotation.  What does provoke really mean?  To provoke means exactly this: incitement to good, to dispute in anger; contention; provoke unto good; to cause to stir; to rouse; to awaken; to arouse to action, to open ones eyes.  Throughout scripture, we are reminded not to provoke God to anger, meaning that we are not to dispute His Word and therefore cause contention within the Body.  We instead are to speak the truth in love, provoking others to continue to develop and mature in the Kingdom.  As we grow in love for one another, we will then effectively be doing the good works that we as believers are called to accomplish.  In the Word of God, we see many examples of God’s people being provoked to manifest His Kingdom.  In Isaiah 50:4 the Lord “awakens” the prophet (our physical bodies) each morning and “awakens” his ear (our spirit-man) to hear God’s message.  We, too, should awaken each morning ready to hear and act upon the directions given us through His Word.  Isaiah 51:19 speaks of the arm of the Lord being “awakened” or “roused” to action.  We see this demonstrated in Haggai 1:12-14 as Haggai, the prophet, provoked Zerubbabel and the people to rebuild the Kingdom.  Haggai’s message stirred up cold hearts and ignited a fresh fire for doing His will.  The result was that the people began building again with renewed energy and purpose.  They had been provoked and roused to action, ready to restore, rebuild and renew.  That is God’s plan for us today as He effectively continues the good works He has called us to accomplish for His Kingdom, His glory and His honor.

Thoughts For Today

“The Lord is not slack concerning His promise . . . We, according to His promise, look for new heavens and a new earth, which righteousness dwells” (2 Peter 3:9, 13).  It is faith “the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen” (Hebrews 11:1) that propels us onward toward the promises of God.  It is the knowledge that His Word promises that if we stay in a right relationship with Him, not by being perfect, but by trusting Him, even when we fail, that He will indeed fulfill His Word.  As people of God, we have to trust Him in every circumstance, no matter how trying or difficult it may be. He will always make a way.  It may not be the way we would have chosen, but that is where faith in Him to make the decision for us, no matter the situation, turns us from victims to victors.  Sometimes life hits us like a two-ton tractor-trailer.  It may seem that we are about to be flattened by overwhelming devastation, but God always provides a way of escape.  Let’s face it, at some time in our lives we are all going to be up against harder situations than we have ever had to face.  We may even beg God to tell us why this is happening.  As hard as it may be to believe, that circumstance is designed specifically for you.  The Bible is full of men and women that were tested by God.  Research this, starting with Adam and Eve.  God tests His people.  He does not test you to make you fail, but rather so you will trust in His faithfulness.  He allows situations and circumstances in your life to strengthen you, so He can bring to fruition the promises He has made to you.  Take time to read Deuteronomy 8:16.  If you are in the midst of the biggest battle of your life, be of good cheer.  Whatever the situation: the loss of a loved one, impoverishment, physical disabilities, poor health, emotional problems, abuse, addictions, know that nothing can separate you from the promises of God.  Remember, you are not the first, nor will you be the last person to proclaim that the situation you are in seems too hard to bear.  The good news is that you are absolutely correct; it is too hard to bear, alone.  God’s promises are immutable and will never change.  He has promised that He will never leave nor forsake you and He never will.  As you take your eyes off of the circumstances that are encircling you and look to Him, He will make a way.

Thoughts For Today

“It is because of the Lord’s mercies that we are not consumed, because His compassions fail not.  They are new every morning: great is Your faithfulness” (Lamentations 3:22-24).  Praise God for His great mercy.  Tradition and religion have perverted our understanding of God’s mercy.  The Bible declares He is great in mercy.  We have been made to think that God’s mercy has a limit, but the Bible teaches that there are no limitations.  Psalms 103:11 states, “For as the heaven is high above the earth, so great is His mercy toward them that fear Him.”   “…My ways are higher than your ways, and My thoughts than your thoughts” (Isaiah 55:9).  God is saying, “I am much wiser than you, I am much greater in understanding than you.  You think on a much lower level than I do.”  That is all true, but He did not say it in a judgmental context.  In verse 7 of Isaiah 55, God says, “Let the wicked forsake his way, and the unrighteous man his thoughts: and let him return unto the Lord, and He will have mercy upon him; and to our God, for He will abundantly pardon.”  Verse 8 goes on to tell us, “For My thoughts are not your thoughts neither are your ways My ways, says the Lord.”  God is saying, “I am merciful, I think mercifully, I act mercifully, but you do not.  You think and act judgingly and vengefully.”  God’s thoughts are much higher because of His great mercy.  Next we see God’s thoughts toward us.  Jeremiah 29:11 states, “For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, says the Lord, thoughts of peace, and not of evil, to give you an expected end.”  Psalm 139:17-18 reassures us, “How precious also are Your thoughts toward me, O God, how great is the sum of them?  If I should count them, they are more in number than the sand: when I awake, I am still with You.”  Then God shows in Isaiah 55:10-11 the sureness of His mercy, promising His Word will not return void.  One translation of Lamentations 3:22 for mercy is covenant love or steadfast love.  God’s mercies are sure and steadfast.  You can count on them.  His ways and thoughts of mercy toward us are great and high above our comprehension or understanding.  God is thinking these thoughts toward us today and wants to demonstrate His ways of mercy in our lives.  Hope in His mercy today.  The Psalmist says, “Although my feet slipped, Your mercy held me up.”  Trust in God’s mercy today.  It will not fail.

Thoughts For Today

There is a stirring in the body of Christ and many expectations about revival and the great harvest that is coming into the church.  The important aspect of this harvest is training individuals to become His disciples.  God is not interested in just revival, the harvest coming into the Kingdom, but in the discipleship that will equip them.  In the great commission, Jesus told His disciples this, “All authority has been given to Me in heaven and on earth.  Therefore go and make disciples in all nations, baptizing them into the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to observe things that I have commanded you and lo I am with you always, even to the end of the age” (Matthew 28:18-20).  How long will you hesitate?  God is opening the door for all nations to come into the knowledge of Christ Jesus as Lord and Savior.  God may have placed this very cry in your heart.  Do not hesitate.  You don’t have to go to another land to reach the nations of the world.  You are given the opportunity to witness to the nations each time you meet someone from another race, culture or ethnic group other than your own.  The person sitting or standing next to you may be the person God anoints to reach an entire nation for His glory.  Go and make disciples and teach them to obey all His commands and He will be with you to the end of the world.  Do not hesitate, knowing that Jesus saves.  “All authority is given Me in heaven and earth.  Now go.”  Through God’s new covenant, we are not only to enjoy the benefits of salvation, eternal life, peace, healing, deliverance, provision, and hope, but we are to proclaim it.  Paul, the apostle, stated, “I am not ashamed of the Gospel of Jesus Christ, for it is the power of God unto salvation” (Romans 1:16).  Do not hesitate to share this good news of God’s Kingdom.  God is doing a new thing, raising up disciples from all walks of life, not only interested in what the Lord can do for them, but what they can do for Him.  Do not hesitate.  Go in Jesus name.

Thoughts For Today

In Genesis 17:1, the Lord speaks to His servant Abraham and tells him this: “Walk before Me and be thou perfect.”  From that time to this, that scripture has been a question in men’s hearts.  What exactly was Father God asking of His man, Abraham?  Was He asking him to be absolutely flawless, never making a mistake, never losing control and to always get everything right?  To answer these intriguing questions, it is important to do a little research.  Let’s start with the definition of the word “perfect”.  It helps if you have a Strong’s Concordance.  The Hebrew word for perfect is “tel-eye-oss” and it refers to that which has reached a perfect end, that is, finished, complete, perfect.  When applied to persons, it includes the concept of being whole.  When applied to Christians, it denotes maturity.  We have to start with a revelation of Who God is so we can begin to understand how to get to a perfect end.  If we do not comprehend His concept of perfection, which is maturity in our relationship with Him, we will continually set ourselves up to be disappointed by our failures, our expectations of others and ultimately by God Himself.  In reality, He is asking us to know more about Him so that when we do fall short of the glory, and we all do, that we are working from an established relationship, knowing firsthand that His mercies truly are new every morning.  As we continue to mature in Him, we are growing         increasingly more aware that what He is really asking from us, just as He did Abraham, is to grow in Him, trusting that no matter what else happens, He is Who He says He is, El Shaddai, God Who is more than enough.

Thoughts For Today

“How long will you hesitate?  I have created something new and different” (Jeremiah 31:22).  Verse 25 goes on to say, “For I have
satiated (satisfied) the weary soul and I have replenished every sorrowful soul.”  In this portion of scripture, God is telling the prophet Jeremiah about the new covenant He is going to make with the house of Israel.  It is going to be a completely different contract than the previous agreement He had made with His servant Moses.  God makes His intentions clear in the next verses. “I will make a new covenant with the house of Israel and the house of Judah, not according to the covenant I made with their fathers.  I will put my law in their inward parts, and write it in their hearts; and will be their God, and they shall be my people.  They shall all know me, from the least of them unto the greatest of them, for I will forgive their iniquity, and I will remember their sins no more” (Jeremiah 31:31-34).  The birth and death of Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior fulfilled this prophecy.  We have known Him as Savior, healer, deliverer and provider.  Now it is time to know Him as Lord. How long will you hesitate? God is doing a new thing in the earth today.  Yes, He wants your salvation, healing, deliverance and provision, but He wants you to seek Him because of who He is, not what He can do for you.

Thoughts For Today

“Seek God’s face, not His hand,” is something that has been taught in Christian circles recently.  Wanting to know God for who He is, not only for what He can do is admirable.  However, God’s hand is just as important as His face.  God wants to move us by His mighty hand.  Isaiah 59:1 declares, “Behold, the Lord’s hand is not shortened, that it cannot save…”  God asked Moses in Numbers 11:23, “Has the Lord’s arm been shortened?”  In Isaiah 50:2 the Lord asked, “Is my hand shortened at all that it cannot redeem?  Or have I no power to deliver…”  As important as seeking God’s face is, to be intimate with Him, you cannot separate Him from His arm and hand.  If not careful, we can fall into false humility, which is a form of pride.  When Moses faced the Red Sea in front and the Egyptians behind, He was between a rock and a hard place.  He began to cry to the Lord and the Lord said, “Stop crying and stretch forth your rod.”  Supernaturally the Lord’s hand split the Red Sea.  In Isaiah 50:2, God said, “…with My rebuke I dry up the sea…”  God wants to move supernaturally by His Spirit in our lives. Isaiah 53:1 declares, “Who has believed And to whom has the arm of the Lord been revealed?”  The word “revealed” means to uncover or expose.  God is rolling up His sleeve, exposing His arm and hand to move powerfully on our behalf. He reveals His hand to those who believe His report.  John 11:40 states, “…If you would believe you would see the glory of God.”  We need to believe God to stretch forth His hand, which is not short, to do miracles in our lives.  In Acts 4:29-30, the church prayed, “Lord…grant to Your servants that with all boldness we may speak Your Word, by stretching out Your hand to heal, and that signs and wonders may be done through the name of Your holy Servant Jesus.”  Isaiah 45:11 says, “…Ask Me of things to come…concerning the work of My hands, you command Me.”  God wants us to COMMAND Him to use His hands. We are the work of His hands and when the world sees the job God, the potter, has done on us, the clay, they will turn toward Him.  Isaiah 29:23-24 declares, “But when He sees His children, the work of My hands, in His midst, they will hallow My name, And hallow the Holy One of Jacob, and fear the God of Israel.  These also who erred in spirit will come to understanding, and those who complained will learn doctrine.”  All this will be accomplished by the work of His hands.

Thoughts For Today

Seek God diligently and wholeheartedly.  He is waiting for decisive men and women to set their will to seek His face.  Once we have decided to live totally for the Lord, He can then begin to move in our individual lives, completing the good work He has already begun in us.  Once again, remember, God is not looking at your present circumstances, where you have been in the past or what you have done.  He is looking for those who have come to the realization that they cannot make it without His guidance and for those who are diligently seeking His will for their lives.  Even as you seek Him, He is moving on your behalf, blessing you, prospering you and delivering you from any situation that has been holding you back from experiencing all that God has for your life.  God’s desire to deliver you is greater than the enemy’s desire to destroy you.  Solomon spoke of God’s faithfulness to his father, David.  Second Chronicles 6:4 states, “Blessed be the Lord, the God of Israel, Who with His hand has fulfilled what He promised with His mouth to my father David.”  Like Solomon, you can truly say what God has promised with His mouth, you have seen Him fulfill with His hand.

Thoughts for Today

The Holy Spirit is speaking to the church about prayer and God’s people are heeding the call to pray like never before.  Jeremiah 33:3 declares, “Call upon Me and I will show you great and mighty things which you know not of.”  Through prayer, the Lord is going to release of souls ever. In Acts 4:24-25; we find three key principles of prayer from the early Church.

1.They prayed with purpose and unity.  “…They raised their voices to God with one accord…”
2.They magnified God.  “Lord, You are God, who made heaven and earth and the sea, and all that is in them…”  They prayed looking at the magnitude of God, not at the magnitude of their problems.
3.They confessed the Word of God.  “…By the mouth of your servant David has said…”  They reminded God of His promises.

The results in verses 31-34 are amazing.  After they had prayed, these things happened:

•Verse 31: “And when they had prayed, the place where they were assembled together was shaken; and they were all filled with the Holy Spirit, AND they spoke the Word of God with boldness.”
•Verse 32: “…those who believed were of one heart and one soul…and they had all things in          common.”
•Verse 33: “And with GREAT POWER the apostles gave witness to the resurrection of the Lord      Jesus.  And GREAT GRACE was upon them all.”
•Verse 34: “Nor was there anyone among them who lacked…”

They were all filled with the Holy Spirit and boldness, possessed great unity, great power, great grace and had no lack because they were a praying church.  May we all take our place and do our part in the prayer army of God.

Thoughts For Today

“Now it shall come to pass, if you diligently obey the voice of the Lord your God, to observe and to do all His commandments which I command you this day, that the Lord your God will set you on high above all nations of the earth” (Deuteronomy 28:1).  This scripture is an incredible promise from God.  The protection of God, when you are in His will and following His commandments, is the safest place in the universe.  Only God can make that kind of promise, because He is God.  Coming to the understanding that there is nothing or no one who can save your soul, deliver you from the hand of your enemies, heal your body and your broken heart but God, is the greatest revelation there is.  God is the Most High God.  He is El Shaddiah, God who is more than enough.  It is truly His desire to bring you into heavenly places and seat you at His right hand. God is not looking at you in your present circumstances, He already sees you as perfect and blameless.  He is, however, looking for godly men and women to whom He may show Himself strong.  Second Chronicles 16:9 declares, “For the eyes of the Lord run to and fro throughout the whole earth, to show Himself strong on behalf of them whose heart is loyal to Him.”  God is diligently seeking men and women whose heart (spirit man) is strong (perfect) toward Him.  He will completely support those that have given their hearts 100% to Him.  Psalm 34:15 states, “The eyes of the Lord are on the righteous, and His ears are open unto their cry.”

Thoughts For Today

“I will lift up my voice to the hills - from whence comes my help?  My help comes from the Lord, Who made heaven and earth.  He will not allow your foot to be moved; He Who keeps you will not slumber.  Behold He Who keeps Israel shall neither slumber nor sleep.  The Lord is your keeper; the Lord is your shade at your right hand.  The sun shall not strike you by day, nor the moon by night.  The Lord shall preserve you from all evil; He shall preserve your soul.  The Lord shall preserve your going out and your coming in from this time and even for evermore” (Psalm 121: 1-8).  These powerful promises are ours for the asking.  God’s keeping power is meant to sustain us until the return of our mighty King, Lord Jesus.  God cares for us and is not only the Creator of the universe He is also our guardian and caretaker.  This keeping power is twenty-four hours a day and we are reminded in this Psalm that it is God Who sustains us.

Thoughts For Today

Dear Heavenly Father,
Because of the shed blood of Jesus Christ, I come to You in prayer.  Precious Holy Spirit, help me pray and pray through me.  Lord, I ask that You anoint me with fresh oil.  I pray that every hindrance preventing me from coming into a closer relationship with You will be removed.  Take every obstacle from my mind and release me from all anxiety. Increase my desire to know You, Your ways and Your perfect will for my life.  Turn my heart to You, Father.  In Jesus’ Name I pray, Amen.

· Through prayer - we can release God to move on our behalf.
· Through prayer - we can see His hand move to supply all of our needs.
· Through prayer - we can see the enemy defeated and rendered defenseless.
· Through prayer - we can be equipped to serve in God’s army and build His Kingdom.
· Through prayer - we can see our families saved and living for God.
· Through prayer - we can see financial tragedies turned to triumphs.
· Through prayer - the possibilities are limitless.

Thoughts For Today

Praise God for His wonderful works toward men.  In Luke 4:18, Jesus quoted Isaiah’s prophecy concerning Himself as the Anointed One.  “‘The Spirit of the Lord is upon Me, because He has anointed Me to preach the Gospel to the poor; He has sent Me to heal the brokenhearted, to proclaim liberty to the captives and recovery of sight to the blind, to set at liberty those who are oppressed.’  Jesus went on to say, ‘Today this scripture is fulfilled in your hearing.’”  Jesus was stating, “I am the Anointing.  I am here,” but as we continue to read, we see that they rejected Him.  In Luke 4:25, “many widows were in Israel in the days of Elijah but to none of them was Elijah sent except to Zarephath, in the region of Sidon, to a woman who was a widow.”  Even though there were many widows, there was only one that adhered to the Word.  She did not reject the prophet.  By her obedience, she attracted the blessings of God to her.  We see that obedience plays a crucial role in attracting the anointing.  Jesus continues by saying, “many lepers were in Israel in the time of Elisha the prophet, and none of them was cleansed except Naaman the Syrian.”  Jesus is saying that the anointing is sent to those who attract or draw upon it.  The widow was willing to give her last meal at the word of Elijah.  This act drew upon the anointing of God to sustain her.  Naaman the leper was willing to lay down his pride and obey the word of Elisha to wash in the Jordan River and be cleansed.  The more willing we are to obey God, the more anointing (the power of the Holy Spirit) we will attract.  Acts 5:32 states, “The Holy Spirit is given to those who obey Him.”  God is not moved by need.  He is moved by faith.  As we obey His Word and step out in faith, we attract His anointing to our lives.  Second Chronicles 16:9 declares, “The eyes of the Lord run to and fro throughout the whole earth, to show Himself strong on behalf of those whose heart is loyal to Him.”  Take a step of faith in obedience to God and by faith, expect the power of God to be sent your way.

Thoughts For Today

The Lord is revealing in these last days that the Church is going to rise up with an Apostolic thrust, as in the book of Acts, that will literally shake the world.  Through massive explosions of evangelism, believers with the gifts of the spirit operating in their lives will be an army of soul winners for the Kingdom.  The local Church is moving outside of its four walls and invading communities with mission efforts as never before, literally changing the community by ministering not only in word, but also in deed.  The Church is coming into a greater understanding of the role she will have in the restoration of natural Israel as a nation.  The admonition to “Pray for the peace of Jerusalem” comes with the promise, “May they prosper who love you” (Psalm 122:6).  As you pursue the direction of the Lord for His Church and your part in it, continue to reach out through evangelism and equipping God’s saints for the harvest.  The Body of Christ is going to be the most powerful force on the face of the earth before Jesus returns.  The glory of the latter house is going to be greater than the former house.  Jesus saved the best wine for last. Get ready, the Church is breaking out of her cocoon and she is about to soar to her place of destiny.  What a mighty God we serve.  It is truly a great time to be living on the earth.  God is moving powerfully by His Spirit, fulfilling Joel’s prophecy, “And it shall come to pass afterward that I will pour out My Spirit on all flesh.”  His Word is being fulfilled that declares in Revelations 11:15, “the kingdoms of this world have become the kingdoms of our Lord”

Thoughts For Today

The waiting is in itself a very important part of the learning process and for most of us - the hardest.  In our experience, God usually answers one of three ways: yes, no, or wait.  Our perseverance during these times of waiting is what truly shapes our character and brings us into a total dependence on the will of God.  Jacob’s experience in Genesis 32:24-32 is the perfect example of how we must persevere in our prayer lives.  Verse 26 states, “and He (God) said, ‘Let me go, for the day breaks.’ But he (Jacob) said, ‘I will not let You go, unless You bless me.’”  We have to wrestle with issues in prayer, trusting God to bless our faithfulness to seek His will for our lives.  Ephesians 6:12 states, “We do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places.”  Verses 13-17 clothe us in our prayer armor as verse 18 expounds upon the need to pray: “Praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit, and being watchful to the end with all perseverance and supplication for all saints.”  If we have to wrestle, it is much better to wrestle with the things that are preventing us from getting to God than wrestle with God Himself.  The only way to conquer these things is through prayer and laying hold of God’s strength.

Thoughts For Today

We must never become too busy doing God’s work to pray.  Not praying leaves God out of what we are doing, even if we are doing it with His Kingdom in mind.  If we are too busy to pray, the enemy has in effect disarmed us.  Prayer is our greatest weapon and should be relied upon to defeat every strategy and attack.  The one area that we seem least prepared for is the attack on our prayer lives.   Luke 18:1 tells us, “Men ought always to pray, and not lose heart.”  As we diligently seek God’s will for our lives through prayer, we will see results.  Don’t limit God through prayerlessness.  Sit at His feet.  Learn from Him.  Seek Him through His Word.  Let God Himself teach you to pray and bring you into a greater knowledge and understanding of Him.  He’s ready to fellowship with you.  Don’t keep Him waiting.  One of the most difficult aspects of prayer is waiting for God to answer.

“He who has an ear let him hear what the Spirit says to the churches” (Revelations 2:7).  The Holy Spirit is speaking and working in the Church like never before.  The Church is going through a metamorphosis.  It seems as though the struggles and trials that she has experienced have occurred for the purpose of bringing her into the majesty and glory that God has purposed for the Church from the beginning of time.  Jesus Christ is not coming back to earth for a beaten down, broken apart, defeated Church.  He is coming back for a powerful, overcoming, glorious, victorious Church.  It is time to rise up and show forth the glory of God, “Arise, shine; for your light has come.  And the glory of the Lord is risen upon you.  For behold, the darkness shall cover the earth, and deep darkness the people; but the Lord will arise over you and His glory will be seen upon you” (Isaiah 60:1-2).  In these last days, there are and will be days of great darkness.  However, the Church of Jesus Christ is going to shine as never before with the glory of God.

Thoughts For Today

The only way to stop prayerlessness is to pray!  Matthew 11: 28-30 states, “Come unto me, all you who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.  Take My yoke upon you, and learn of Me, for I am gentle and lowly in heart: and you shall find rest for your souls.  For My yoke is easy, and My burden is light.”  Let’s take a moment and examine what the Lord is saying to us.

· Come unto me - The Lord is extending an invitation to come and spend time with Him.
· All you who labor and are heavy laden - Every care, every concern, every worry and every need can be laid at His feet.
· I will give you rest - When you trust completely in Him to do the work, you can rest.
· Take my yoke upon you - Resisting every call except the Lord’s will keep you free from every encumbrance.
· Learn of me - Spend time at His feet.  Worship Him.  Praise Him.  Bring your petitions before Him.  Read the Word and let your prayers rise as incense before Him.
· I am gentle and lowly of heart - The Lord knows your circumstances and He remembers your frame is made of dust.  He wants you to know that you can come to Him and He will be tender toward you.
· You shall find rest for your souls - When you do take the time to pray and be with our Lord, it is a time of refreshing and rest.  You can really lay down the weights that have been holding you back from a deeper relationship with Him.
· My yoke is easy - When you seek the Lord’s will for your life, He will direct you and the work of your hands will be blessed.
· My burden is light - The Lord knows what you can and cannot bear.  As you seek Him, He will prepare you for the tasks ahead.

Thoughts For Today

At the marriage feast of Cana, Mary, the mother of Jesus, came to Him saying, “‘They have no wine.’  Jesus’ response was, ‘My hour has not yet come’” (John 2).  However, Mary’s faith put into action the first miracle in Jesus’ ministry.  This sequence of events is important to us as believers because we see that God’s timing in our lives is just as important as it was in Jesus’ life.  Timing makes all of the difference in fulfilling our destiny in Him.  First, we have to realize what season we are in.  God is continually preparing us for His promises to be fulfilled.  Mary’s instructions to the servants filling the wine pots were, “Whatever He says to you, do it.”  Secondly, we have to be obedient to the will of God and walk in His way.  Jesus told the servants “Fill the water pots with water.”  This speaks to us of being filled with the Word and with the Holy Spirit.  As we study God’s Word and allow the Holy Spirit to lead and guide us, we will recognize the season of training and preparation we are in.  When we know His voice and follow His instructions, we will know when to step out in faith to see our destiny fulfilled.  Galatians 6:8-9 tells us how to develop in our faith, “For he who sows to his flesh will of the flesh reap corruption, but he who sows to the Spirit will of the Spirit reap everlasting life.  And let us not grow weary while doing good, for in due season we shall reap if we do not lose heart.”  Just as this was the beginning of miracles in Jesus’ ministry, as He stepped out, by faith, as we are obedient and activate our faith, our destinies are being fulfilled and God’s due season for our lives as believers is coming to pass.  Activate your faith and just like the servants at the wedding feast, “whatever He says to you, do it.”

Thoughts For Today

Have you ever found yourself to be overwhelmed by your commitments?  All the while your heart was right and you “felt led” to volunteer for just one more worthwhile activity, but you did not take the time to seek what the Lord had for you.  After several late nights and juggling your schedule to accommodate the carpool, the workload, the children’s schedule and your husband or wife’s needs, you were literally crying out to God and begging Him to remove some of the load from your shoulders?  As you pour out all of your grievances, our Lord listens patiently.  Then, from within your spirit, you are reminded that His burden is light and His yoke is easy (Matthew 11:30).  While you are discussing the reasons for taking on more than you can handle, simply stop and ask the Lord His will and His plan.

Thoughts For Today

As Jesus prepared to go to the cross He spoke aloud to His heavenly Father, but also in front of His disciples, and said, “Now my soul is troubled, and what shall I say, ‘Father, save me from this hour?  But for this purpose I came to this hour.  Father, glorify your name’” (John 12:27-28).  As Jesus prophesied His own death, He questioned His disciples by asking, “What shall I say?  Save me, when My death is the very purpose that I came to accomplish?”  “For this purpose the Son of God was manifested, that He might destroy the works of the devil” (1 John 3:8).  We know that Jesus accomplished this purpose by His finished work on the cross.  The question that many Christians seem to struggle with is not what Jesus died for, but rather what is their purpose.  Ephesians 3:8-12 gives us the answer to this mystery.  “This grace was given, that I should preach among the Gentiles the unsearchable riches of Christ, and to make all see what is the fellowship of the mystery, which from the beginning of the ages has been hidden in God who created all things through Jesus Christ; to the intent that now the manifold wisdom of God might be made known by the church to the principalities and powers in heavenly places, according to the eternal purpose which He accomplished in Christ Jesus our Lord, in whom we have boldness and access with confidence through faith in Him.”  We are the church and our purpose is to receive the manifold wisdom of God so we can walk in authority, no matter what principalities and powers with which we have to deal.  Jesus’ completed work on the cross gave us boldness and access so we, by faith, can confidently fulfill our purpose and destiny.  We know that it is “Him Who is able to do exceedingly abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that works in us, to Him be the glory in the church by Christ Jesus to all generations, forever and ever” (Ephesians 3:20-21).  It is up to us to receive what He has already done.  To realize our purpose we must:
· Be intimate with Him.
· Seek Him through His Word.
· Pray diligently.
· Trust Him to accomplish His will in us.
“We know that all things work together for good to those who love God, to those who are called according to His purpose” (Romans 8:28).  “For as a man thinks (purposes) in his heart, so is he” (Proverbs 23:7).

Thoughts For Today

Prayer is putting our faith into action and completely trusting in Him for the results.  We are here on earth, counting on God in heaven, to move on our behalf.  Throughout the Word, prayer has moved God.  God works through the prayers of His people, and when there is prayerlessness, the enemy attacks from all sides.  When we daily seek the hand of God, we recognize Him as Lord and express our need for Him to be our supply.  Prayer shapes our character, integrity, hearts, and our lives.  Our hearts should constantly be shaped and molded by prayer.  If we experience a time when there seems to be no answer, and the changing world around us is moving too quickly, we need to do a spiritual check and evaluate our prayer life.  Unfortunately, what happens most often is we fill in the time with more and more activities until we are literally running from place to place trying to fill the void that prayerlessness creates.  If we leave God out of even the most church based activities, the work itself becomes of no value.  We allow the busyness of church activities to replace our time with the Lord.

Thoughts For Today

Proverbs 29:18 declares, “Where there is no vision, the people perish…”  This passage of scripture could just as easily read, “Where there is no prophetic revelation of destiny, the people perish.”  The word “vision” literally means exactly that, revelation of prophetic destiny.  As we continue to read, we see that without revelation of our destiny, we perish.  By translating the word “perish” from the Hebrew language, we discover that it means, “to be uncovered.”  It is easy to become caught in the trap of being so focused on our present circumstances that we lose sight of where we are going.  We then begin to think that we will never move beyond our day-to-day trials.  Through the Word of God and prayer, we must continually encourage ourselves that God does indeed have a destiny for us and that we are moving past where we are.  Genesis 15:1-6 is a perfect example of being stuck in your present circumstance with no vision for the future.  Even though God had already promised Abram that he would be the Father of many nations, all Abram could see was that he still went childless.  “Seeing” is the same issue that we fall victim to.  If we cannot see it, how can it be?  When God took Abram outside of his tent, He told him to look up at the multitude of stars.  This speaks to us of going outside of our circumstances and looking up to God.  Verse 6 tells us that when Abram looked up, he believed.  From that moment on, his focus was redirected and he believed that God had a destiny for him.  When we lose the focus of our destiny, we become uncovered and become victims of the enemy.  Israel was destined for the Promised Land, but instead of focusing on where they were going they could only see where they were.  It is time as overcoming, victorious Christians that we take our eyes off of our present circumstances and look ahead to our future.  We have a destiny in God. It is time to forget where we are and focus on where we are going.  Psalm 121:1-2 shows us the way to start: “I will lift up mine eyes unto the hills, from whence cometh my help?  My help cometh from the Lord…”  Look up and believe. As we take the step of faith to press on to our destiny, we must start, “…looking unto Jesus, the author and finisher of our faith; Who for the joy that was set before Him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is set down at the right hand of the throne of God” (Hebrews 12:2).  Jesus fulfilled His destiny so we could fulfill ours.

Thoughts For Today

I will stand upon my watch, and set me upon the rampart, and watch to see what He will say to me, and what I will answer when I am corrected.  And the Lord answered me and said, ‘Write the vision and make it plain on tablets, that he may run who reads it.  For the vision is yet for an appointed time, but at the end it will speak, and not lie: Though it tarry, wait for it; because it will surely come, it will not tarry…the just shall live by his faith’” (Habakkuk 2:1-4).  As believers, we must trust God to direct our lives according to His purposes.  Even though it may seem that the vision will not be fulfilled, God is still at work, shaping our character and preparing us for His promises.  Second Corinthians 3:3 declares, “Clearly you are an epistle of Christ, ministered by us, written not with ink, but by the Spirit of the living God; not on tablets of stone, but in tablets of flesh that is the heart.”  When we write God’s vision in our hearts, and communicate our faith by trusting in Him, we are allowing spiritual growth to take place in our lives.  Since we can learn so much from observing things in the natural, let’s take an everyday situation and examine it with spiritual eyes.  Going to the doctor’s office for a physical check-up is for many of us, a normal and regular occurrence.  If you think about it, what are the first things that a doctor will check to make sure they are functioning properly?  He checks all of our basic senses.  In the same way, we can check our progress by doing a spiritual check-up:
· Check your tongue - What have you been talking about?
· Check your ears - What have you been listening to?
· Check your eyes - Is your vision still in focus?
· Check your heart - Are you bitter and angry?
· Check your reflexes - Do you respond in anger or are you full of love and mercy?  Finally, check your blood - Are you cleansed and covered by the blood of Jesus?  Today, let David’s prayer to the Lord in Psalms 139:23-24 be yours.  Allow the Holy Spirit to search your heart and perfect you into the individual He desires.  Be encouraged that the vision God has given you will not tarry.  He is preparing you to fulfill His call and His promises in your life.

Thoughts For Today

“Today you have proclaimed the Lord to be your God, and that you will walk in His ways and keep His statutes, His commandments and His judgments, and that you will obey His voice.  Also today the Lord has proclaimed you to be His special people, just as He promised you, that you should keep all His commandments and that He will set you high above all nations, which He has made, in praise, in name, and in honor and that you may be a holy people to the Lord your God just as He has spoken” (Deuteronomy 26:17-19).  The word special means possession, personal property, and special treasure.  This word occurs eight times in the Old Testament.  Five of those times refer to His people, Israel, as God’s special treasure.  In two references it speaks of the prized possession of kings or royal treasures.  Malachi 3:17 calls us God’s jewels.  It is so very comforting to know that not only have we chosen Him to be our King, but He has also chosen us to be His special people.  We are precious to Him and even though the material wealth of this world may be what men consider important, God’s treasures are found in His people.

PRAYER POINTS

Direct your Prayer – In Psalm 5:3, David tells the Lord, “in the morning I will direct my prayer to you.” The word direct means to lay out or plan. Here, David is saying that he laid out his desires, dreams, and wishes before the Lord when he prayed. He did this because he wanted God’s blessings, but most of all, he wanted God’s will. Sometimes we think God’s will is second best, but in reality it is the very best (See Romans 12:1). Don’t be afraid to share your dreams and desires with God; ask Him what He thinks about them! You may be surprised that God has more for you than you could ever dream. Always remember that the Lord is good, and in His presence you will always find great joy!

Reflection – It is very important to your spiritual journey that you learn to reflect and examine where you are and where you are going. In 2 Corinthians 13:5 you are told to examine yourself. To examine oneself simply means to approve of something. In this season, Pastor Kent has reminded you that you are the CEO’S of your own life. You and I have been given the privilege and responsibility of making choices for our own lives! So reflecting or meditating on all of God’s grace and mercy helps you make the right decisions. The Bible says, “Be still and know that I am God” (Psalm 46:10). Waiting and reflecting on the Lord is a good way to walk in victory and power. We have the choice to make this a good year. Put your trust in Jesus, and see what happens!

The Power of Praise – Psalm 22:3 teaches that God dwells in the praise of Israel, His people. This literally means that God is enthroned in your praise. Fear can give the enemy a place to attack you, but praise gives God a place to work in your life. Paul and Silas were imprisoned and bound until they began to sing, praise and pray to the Lord, and God sent an earthquake in the middle of their praise that set everyone free. Praise does not work by how you feel; praise works because of Who God is and what He can do! I refuse to worry, complain, doubt, and be discouraged when I know my answer is only a praise away! You should, too.

PRAYER POINTS
Month of Tishrei – This is the month of the fall feasts in which we draw close to God and experience His glory. The term glory in the Old Testament literally meant heavy or weighty. This term deals with the significance or the glorious aspect of God. God always glories in saving, healing, delivering, and setting us free to enjoy life in Him! This is only the beginning because God has determined to move us from glory to glory by His presence and power (2 Corinthians 3:18). The final state of the believer is to be glorified together with Jesus! (Romans 8:30)This is not a time to be discouraged, pray and seek the Lord and you will see Him show up in your life in power and great glory!
Teshuvah – This is a Hebraic term that is translated to repentance, but literally means “to return.” Sometimes in our spiritual journey, we develop drift or simply lose passion because of life and its problems. Teshuvah is about returning to that place in the Lord where we passionately love and embrace all He is to us!  In fact, the New Testament teaches that the goodness of God leads us to repentance, or Teshuvah. The key word is “lead.” That is how the Lord interacts with us. He doesn’t drive us; He leads us! Don’t live under regret and condemnation; allow the Lord’s goodness to cause you to return to Him with all your heart. You will find that when you arrive, great peace, great love, and unspeakable joy will all be there waiting for you.
Rosh Hashanah – This term literally means “the Head of The Year.” God’s word shows us that there is a Biblical Calendar in which God Himself has determined the months, seasons, and times. Rosh Hashanah is the beginning of the New Year for all of God’s children.  This started with Israel, but these times were called the Feasts (or Appointments) of the Lord. I’m glad to wake up to new mornings, new seasons, and new years where I can begin afresh and new.  That is the concept of Rosh Hashanah, I have the choice to decide and allow God to bless the coming year of my life. God’s will is to bless and prosper us all, so let’s make good decisions, not excuses, and align ourselves with what God says and see how He will bless! Get ready! Today is a new day, a new season, and a new year in which God will do news things to cause us to prosper and increase in Him!

Weekly Blog Update - September 17

PRAYER POINTS
ZONED IN - This term, in popular vernacular, means to have intense concentration or focus regarding a certain matter. This is what the prophet Joel is saying to us in his prophecy. He said to “lament, wail, cry, bring little children, postpone even weddings for a season,” so that the nation could pray and seek God. This sounds radical, but challenging times and events need a church that will radically pray. James calls it an “effectual fervent prayer that avails much.” This is a season for our families to purposely enter the prayer zone. When we do that, the Bible says, we will see things that are awesome and great. Let’s “zone in,” and see the enemy “zone out.” We will walk in victory!
BLOW THE TRUMPET – This was a signal or alarm for people to take action because they were being threatened (See Joel 2:1). Everyone in the city had a place and a purpose to fulfill when the alarm sounded. You and I have a great purpose and an appointed place in the kingdom of God. We must all answer the call and move by the Spirit to our assignment.  Just like Gideon’s army, we all have an assigned place. All the Lord asks is that we are faithful in our task. As we pray and seek the Lord, He will reveal to us exactly where we should be and what we should do. Listen to God’s voice, obey His word, and reap the harvest of the Lord!
ARE YOU ALL IN? – Joel says, “Turn to the Lord with ALL your heart.” The only way we will ever truly know the Lord is when our entire being (The Bible calls it heart) is surrendered to Jesus. The Lord has marvelous, amazing, and gloriously things prepared to give to us.  He must be able to find a person and place to deposit His gifts. The Lord said, “you will find me, when you seek me with all your heart.” The secret is in giving yourself to Jesus, and when you do, He is able to give abundantly and above all we could ever dream. That is exactly what Israel did in the book of Joel, and when they did, the entire nation was saved!  Let’s declare, “As for me and my house, we shall serve the Lord! “
